On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 1 Corinthians 12:22-25 (ESV)It was announced Sunday morning that a beloved staff member at our church will be leaving soon and moving away. It reminded me of the times God called me away from places I loved because He had a special assignment for me elsewhere. It is hard to say goodbye, but at the same time it is exciting to know you are part of God's bigger plan. It is also comforting knowing that if God calls you elsewhere, He has someone already in mind to pick up where you left off in the place you've left behind. Making a church or job change decision is never easy. You ask yourself: "Am I thinking about quitting because I am in a hard situation?" That is not a good enough reason to leave. "Am I leaving because I have seen God's hand directing me elsewhere?" That is a good reason to leave. (Click here for a the guide on "How to Choose a Church H.O.M.E.") God directs us in many different ways. One of my favorites is when you keep bumping into what He wants you to do. Maybe the same person keeps crossing your path--in your thoughts, on your phone, email, or running into a mutual friend. That may be a sign that you need to contact that person. Other times, God's will is not that clear. In those times, we need to pray, read the Bible, and seek godly counsel. No matter what, we know that God will never ask us to do anything contrary to His Word. It's the litmus test for knowing if it is really God speaking.
My church isn't the only one seeking God's will in who should fill an important ministry position. Parent Road Ministries is seeking a Public Relations Liaison. The goal of Parent Road Ministries is to equip parents to disciple their kids, teaching them to live for Christ every day. In order to get these discipleship tools into the hands of as many families as possible, we are looking at expanding our ministry team. Please prayerfully answer the questions below and see if God might be calling you or someone you know to join our team in this capacity.
- Do you love the Lord and do your best to live for Him?
- Do you have a passion for seeing this generation of parents and children grow to live lives sold out for Christ?
- Are you a "go-getter" who loves meeting new people, making new connections, and sharing things you love?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIRV)UPDATE: This position has been filled.
